Water damage restoration in La Mesa frequently traces back to age. Carpet and pad contaminated by sewage are generally removed and discarded, because the contamination soaks deep into the fibers and pad. The subfloor underneath is then cleaned, treated with an anti-microbial and dried. Keep everyone out of the area, take photos, and do not try to shampoo it yourself.
Supply-line leaks are usually continuous and clear, and they stop when you close the water valve. Drain and sewer problems tend to appear when fixtures are used, often at the lowest drain in the house, and may carry odor or debris. We confirm the source during the assessment because it determines what can be saved.
It can. Older pad tends to break down, crumble and hold odor once it gets wet, so even after a clean-water leak it may not be worth drying. If the carpet itself is in good condition, replacing only the pad under the affected area is often an option. We will tell you what we find.
On a dry, warm day it can help a little, but it is not a substitute for dehumidifiers and air movers placed to dry the pad, subfloor and wall bottoms. On humid or rainy days open windows can slow drying. We monitor readings so you do not have to guess.
