Water damage restoration in Eastlake usually starts upstairs. Many homes in Eastlake Greens, Eastlake Woods and Eastlake Vistas were built in the 1990s and 2000s with bedrooms, bathrooms and often the laundry on the second floor, carpeted wall to wall, above a tiled ground floor. Not always. If the leak was clean water and it is addressed quickly, ceiling drywall can sometimes be dried in place with the right airflow and dehumidification. If it is sagging, saturated for a long time or the water was contaminated, cutting is usually safer. We check moisture readings above and around the stain before recommending anything.
Water from a washing machine drain or overflow is generally considered gray water, because it contains detergent, soil and whatever came off the clothes. Carpet can often be cleaned and saved, but the pad under it is usually replaced. Water from a burst supply hose before it entered the machine is typically clean water.
Check the baseboards and carpet edges on the wall shared with the garage, and look for darkened tack strip or a damp smell. Water under a garage door threshold often wicks into the nearest room quietly. A moisture meter gives the real answer, and we check those walls as part of the assessment.
For a clean-water loss, most families stay home. The equipment is loud and should run around the clock, so you may want to close doors to the affected rooms. Keep pets away from the air movers and cords. If the water was contaminated, keep everyone out of those rooms until the affected materials are removed and treated.
