Tile and grout cleaning in La Jolla starts with one question: is this stone or is it tile? So many homes here, from Windansea bungalows to the estates in La Jolla Farms, pair glazed porcelain in the kitchen with travertine or marble in the entry and baths. Those two surfaces need very different chemistry. Our crew identifies every floor and shower before a single product goes down, then uses alkaline cleaners where they are safe and pH-appropriate, stone-safe solutions where they are not. La Jolla homes carry some of the finest hard surfaces in the county. Oceanfront properties in La Jolla Shores and Bird Rock often have honed travertine running from the front door to the patio, while hillside view homes in Muirlands tend toward marble master baths and limestone vanities. Village condos are more likely to have porcelain with narrow grout joints. Each one gets a different plan.
The local enemy is grit. Sand from the beaches rides in on shoes and towels and gets ground into the grout with every step, which slowly dulls the surface of softer stone. Salt air leaves a faint film on windowsill tile and outdoor showers, and the marine layer keeps bathrooms damp well into the afternoon, which is exactly when mildew settles into shower corners. Hard water adds a mineral haze around drains and on glass enclosures.
On travertine and marble we never reach for acids, not even mild ones. Calcium-based stone etches on contact, and the damage cannot be cleaned away. Instead we use stone-safe pre-treatments, soft detail brushes on filled travertine so the fill is not disturbed, and a controlled hot-water rinse that pulls sand out of the pores. On porcelain we can be more aggressive with alkaline cleaners, which is often what a greasy kitchen floor needs.
If we see etching, cracked grout or loose fill during the walk-through, we point it out before we start. Cleaning restores soiled grout and stone; it does not repair surface damage, and we would rather you know that on day one.

Cleaning removes the embedded sand and soil that make travertine look gray, and many entries brighten noticeably. If the dullness comes from wear or acid etching, though, the surface itself has changed, and cleaning will not restore the original finish. We will show you which areas are soil and which are wear before we begin.
Yes. Marble showers are common in La Jolla master baths and we clean them with stone-safe chemistry only. We remove soap film, hard-water haze and mildew from the grout, rinse thoroughly and can apply a clear sealer to the grout lines so moisture and soap soak in more slowly.
We do. Outdoor showers and ocean-facing patios collect sand, sunscreen, salt residue and algae. We use hot-water extraction to rinse those surfaces thoroughly without blasting out grout, and we adjust the approach for textured stone and porcelain. Sealing the grout afterward helps salt and sand stay on the surface.
Pricing is per square foot: $0.99 to clean, $1.10 to clean and seal, and $1.15 for separate areas that do not connect. We measure on site and confirm the total with you before starting, so a large home simply means a larger, clearly itemized quote.
