La Jolla furniture faces two forces most inland sofas never meet. The first is salt. Sea air carries fine salt and sand through open doors in La Jolla Shores and Windansea, and it settles into cushion welts and the tight crevice between seat and back. Salt attracts moisture during marine-layer mornings, so fabric near the coast can feel faintly damp or stiff and hold soil more readily. We start every job by pulling cushions and vacuuming those crevices thoroughly, because rinsing sand-laden fabric just turns grit into mud.
The second force is sunlight. Floor-to-ceiling windows in hillside view homes and bluff-side condos send strong afternoon light across sofas and chaises. Linen, cotton and silk blends fade and weaken, and a layer of body oil and sunscreen on top makes that fading look blotchy. Cleaning cannot restore lost dye, and we will say so plainly, but removing the oily film often evens out the color enough that the piece looks years younger.

They did a very good job! First the woman on the phone Iris was very helpful and booked us for the very next morning. The workers were punctual and friendly and bilingual and did a great job. Cleaning cannot put back dye that the sun has removed. What it does is lift the film of body oil, sunscreen and salt that makes faded areas look patchy and dull. Many clients find the color evens out noticeably after cleaning, but we will look at the piece first and tell you honestly what to expect.
Yes. An S code means solvent-based cleaning only, so we avoid water-based methods that could leave rings or shrink the fabric. We test in a hidden area first and use a method appropriate to the fiber. If a piece is coded X, we will explain that only vacuuming is recommended.
We do. Before the appointment we ask about parking, building rules and elevator access so we can plan the equipment setup. If a truck-mounted hose run is not practical, we will discuss the options with you ahead of time rather than on the day.
Most fabrics can be used the same day. Low-moisture cleaning on linen or velvet dries fastest. Marine-layer humidity near the coast can slow drying slightly, so we recommend opening windows on a dry afternoon or running a fan or air conditioning for a few hours.
