Yes, in most cases. We use UV light to find every spot, then treat it with a wool-safe enzyme solution and controlled rinsing so the fibers are not damaged. Very old accidents may leave some discoloration even after the odor is gone, and we will point that out before we start so there are no surprises.
Marine-layer humidity can keep carpet, pads and rugs slightly damp for long periods, especially in ground-level rooms and closets on the ocean side. That moisture lets mildew and bacteria grow and release a stale smell. We extract and dry the carpet, and we will tell you if the moisture seems to come from a leak instead of the air.
We do. Smoke residue settles into carpet and upholstery as an oily film. Hot-water extraction with a solution that cuts that film removes most of it from the carpet, and we deodorize the sofas and chairs that absorbed the most. If heavy smoke has soaked into walls or ceilings, we will let you know that part is outside carpet cleaning.
Usually 3 to 6 hours, but near the coast on a gray day it can take longer because the air is already humid. Running fans, the air conditioning or opening a window on the land side of the house helps a lot, and fast drying also keeps musty odors from returning.
