Much of that haze is oily soil from skin, cooking and outdoor grime, and it does not vacuum out. We pre-treat traffic areas with a solution that breaks down oily soil, then extract with hot water and finish with a rinse that leaves no residue. Residue is exactly what makes light carpet re-soil quickly after a cheap cleaning.
Family life here runs on a schedule: school drop-offs, practices and weekend tournaments. The best time for a cleaning is usually during the school day, when the house is quiet and the carpet can dry before everyone comes home. Carpet is usually dry in 3–6 hours; on marine-layer mornings in homes toward Torrey Pines, it can take a little longer. Running the air conditioning or fans helps.
Many Carmel Valley homes also have large sectionals in performance fabrics and area rugs in the family room. We can clean regular and wool area rugs on site during the same visit. Pets are common, and we check for urine with UV light and treat with enzymes. For light carpet, we recommend professional cleaning every six months: the difference between a gray haze and a clean, bright floor is often just keeping soil from building up. Between visits, quick blotting of spills with plain water does more for light carpet than any store-bought spray.

They did a very good job! First the woman on the phone Iris was very helpful and booked us for the very next morning. The workers were punctual and friendly and bilingual and did a great job. In most cases, light carpet improves dramatically. The gray haze on cream or beige carpet is usually oily soil and residue, which pre-treatment and hot-water extraction remove. Permanent dye stains, sun fading and worn fibers cannot be reversed, and we will point them out before starting.
Usually, yes, if we clean in the morning. Carpet typically dries in 3–6 hours, and running the air conditioning or fans helps. Marine-layer days near Torrey Pines may take a little longer. We suggest socks only for the first few hours and no furniture back until it is completely dry.
Yes. We clean regular area rugs from $49 and wool rugs from $59 on site while cleaning your carpet. We test wool dyes before cleaning. Delicate, silk or antique rugs are evaluated first, and we will be honest if a rug should not be cleaned in the home.
We recommend every six months for light carpet in homes with kids or pets. Light carpet shows soil much sooner, and regular cleaning prevents oily buildup from becoming a stubborn gray haze. Homes without pets or young children can stretch to about a year.
